Hi,I'm not sure if I'm in the right area but I really need some advice from other parents that have been thru basic. My son just started basic training and he is really struggling to the point they are bringing in a Chaplin. I don't know what to say to him. We've tried telling him a zillion times we love him and support him. Any advice?

It looks like there are a couple of you on this message board with sons and daughters who are deploying to Iraq out of Fort Drum. I would love to hear from you or any other parent whose son or daughter is in Iraq.

Welcome to A Community of Families of Washington Guard
We hope you enjoy our Web Journal. Be sure to tell all your friends about this great new service for Mothers of Washington State Guard.As a mother of a Veteran, I understand how tough it can be at times not knowing who to turn to or where to go to get information.
Just finding someone that was going through the same as I was or understood what I was talking about, seemed unattainable.
With the Washington State National Guard Community Web Journal we've provided, we hope to open up the lines of communication for you. Whether your soldier is preparing to enter bootcamp, preparing to deploy, been injured, or is now a Veteran, this is the safe place for you to openly discuss your concerns, share what’s going on in your life as well as your Soldiers, and/or offer information that helped you get through their enlistment.
Having family in the military certainly proves to be a journey full of ups and downs. The common thread we all share is how proud we are of our military family members.
